Young people are playing an ever greater role to build more sustainable and just societies. They are increasingly leading the charge to position nature conservation and climate change in political agendas. It is crucial to our mission to involve and engage the youth, train new leaders and work together to enhance the role they play in building a better world. Through our Wild Wisdom Contest, we engaged a broad group of young people interested in nature conservation.

More than 20 years ago, WWF India created an initiative to motivate interest in nature conservation called the Wild Wisdom Contest.  This year, we adapted this competition in Colombia, including participation in India of two Colombian finalists.  The Colombian Wild Wisdom Contest, the first of its kind in the country, brought together 30,784 young people, students from 97 public and private schools in Bogotá, Barranquilla, Cali, Medellín and Mocoa.  We used the WWF – Netflix Our Planet series and the Jet Album -- Live the Colombia Adventure to prepare the contestants and formulate the quiz questions.  And the good news is two Colombians from Medellin and Barranquilla took home the gold in India competing with 6 other countries (Nepal, China and Hong Kong, Bhutan, Indonesia, India and the United Kingdom).
